Edits

I only used the filter smudge stick. When I took the picture I focused the camera on the first tulip so that the others wouldn't be as crisp. When adding the filter it emphasized the blurriness even more.

I used the layers adjustment layer then used the multiply blending mode to lighten the foreground. It defined more of the clouds in the sky. It also made the mountain pop more. This was the layer that did the most to the picture. The others there was even less of a difference.

I didn't do any editing in any of these photos. For all the pictures except lola I got close to the flower or ant that i wanted to focus on then I loomed in just a little bit to add some extra blur to the background. I tried to get different angles of the flowers to get a different feel for each picture. The spider picture I was first taking a picture of only the spider but as I was trying to figure out the best angle a ant walked into the view of the camera. Then I worked with angles for both of them. With lola I just waited until they were able to get the bunny facing the camera. I like how it turned out because it got their personalities really coming out in it.

Blends and Types

I used the blending option "multiply" to blend the fence onto the train. I used it at an intensity of 56%. I really liked the texture it put onto the building. I was just out taking pictures one day and got some random texture pictures. Some like this one I wasn't sure if I would use but I figured I would take it anyways. I didn't even want to try it when I was finding a picture to blend with the train. But since none of the others were looking quite right I tried it and it was the one that I liked the best.

My roommate wanted her picture to say "Dance like no on is watching." So I used one of the pictures when she was facing the opposite way. I took a picture that I had of the inside of her jacket that had a satin texture and blended it over the top with the blending option overlay. I used it at an intensity of 85%. Then I created a text box with the words and used the blending option vivid light at 73%. I used a font that was more artsy and thicker lettering so it would show up but still keep the feel of dancing. Since dancing usually requires flow I incorporated it with the text. Instead of having it in one block format I had it slide across the photo.

Color Study

I set the camera on the table to get a good angle of the glass. Then I had my roommate drop red food coloring into the glass of water.  I took multiple shots as the color went into the glass. I didn't do any editing to this picture.

My friends had this clock in their apartment I thought it would be a good contrast with black. I had my roommate hold it up to the black refrigerator as i took some shots. To give the background some more texture and the clock to pop out I blended some grass into the black.

After seeing we had a lot of red and black items in the kitchen my roommate arranged a random arrangement. After looking at the original picture I felt it blended too much with the background. I cut out the image and turned the background black. To make it pop out more I beveled and embossed it.

My roommate at a red tutu so we went up to the upper fields and she danced around and posed until I got some good shots. The sun was setting so I needed to get a good angle so there wasn't too much light. I then cropped it and turned the picture black and white beside keeping the tutu colored.

Some friends and I were at a festival on Boise State's Campus and just taking some random pictures. I noticed how this picture had a good ground level that I was able to get rid of all the people in the background and still tell that Matt was sitting on the grass.

While babysitting my nephew he wanted to play in the car, and of course have a photo shoot. I figure in this picture he was a decent amount brighter than the background that it would be easy to select him and put him onto a sold dark background.

All these photos except the tunnel one were taken when members of my family and I went on walks. Three of the five were taking at my grandmother's house. She has around 100 acres with a lot of interesting scenery. Every so often as my cousins and I spend a few hours going out for walks and taking pictures to remember the places we spent a good deal of our childhood playing. When my brother was going to school he lived right near Lake Michigan. Whenever I would go down to visit him when the weather was nice we would go down to the beach and enjoy the sun and the nice cool water. The photograph of the tunnel is in South Dakota, taken on a family vacation. What you can't see in the photo is that the tunnel is framing Mount Rushmore.
